Okay, Julie and Laureen, I may have asked this before, but I'm not sure. I was talking to my digital graphic arts teacher (who's from Illinois) and she mentioned the "washroom" (restroom). Is "washroom" something that very many people say in IL? Or is that just my teacher? lol.

I say bathroom. I remember when I was younger and I'd ask my teacher if I could go to the bathroom she would always say..."I dont know, can you?" she always tried to get us to say washroom bc "we dont bathe in there"

When I'm at school, I speak a little more proper than on here. I ask the teacher, "May I please use the restroom?" lol.
I've never had a teacher remind me to say MAY I instead of CAN I, because I've always said MAY I, lol. I dunno why that is *shrugs*
Laureen, is "washroom" something that very many people say around there? or is that just our teachers? lol.
