^LOL I don't remember if her name was mentioned!!! But I loved some of the witty comments that book had. If you like chick-lit, you should definitely check out Maeve Binchy, Cathy Kelly, and Freya Noth. They are great authors.

I'm reading a lot these days but once i start working, I know I won't be having as much time in my hands as I do now! Though, my average number of books that I read per year is 20, so I guess I'm doing good.

^ By choice, or for school?
I've never read it... we had the choice between reading that and Frankenstein in my Brit Lit class in high school, and I was like, "FRANKENSTEIN, hands down!" Frankenstein ended up not being that great, one of the few books where I think the movie version was a lot better LOL.

I am a big reader and wanted to broaden my reading to some older classics. lol some of it is hard to get through but Its going good. My first thoughts on it are that the mother is soooo freakin annoying and so is Elizabeth. Talk about judging people....

My first thoughts on it are that the mother is soooo freakin annoying and so is Elizabeth. Talk about judging people.... That's cool. I have to say, I didn't really like many of the classics I was forced to read in high school. One of the ones I thought was pretty good was "Wuthering Heights." I have a copy here that I tried to read again over the summer, but it's a tiny book, like a collector's edition thing, and the print is so small that it took too much effort to read LOL. I find it tough enough to read those kinds of novels just because the wording is odd to us, but add in the tiny print, and ugh... I didn't get very far. But someday I'll read it again.

^ Was it font size 6? To actually go along with this thread, I have to read MacBeth for English this year. We haven't started on it yet, but anybody got any comments on it? I guess most people hate it, but...

^ Was it font size 6? To actually go along with this thread, I have to read MacBeth for English this year. We haven't started on it yet, but anybody got any comments on it? I guess most people hate it, but... Actually, I liked MacBeth! It was cool! I only read two Shakespeare plays in high school, that and Romeo & Juliet, and I liked them both. Romeo & Juliet because I just pictured the Leo movie in my head the entire time we read it (and it's a good story!), and MacBeth because it was nice and bloody and twisted! Mwahaha! I think my problem with the classics is not that the stories aren't good... it's just that most of them take so much effort to understand because of the way they're written. I'm lazy; I want a good story that I can read without having to decipher too much LOL. But a lot of the ones I read in high school really did have good stories to them. Even "Great Expectations," which I hated, had some redeeming qualities.

I read MacBeth in my Brit Lit class, which was pretty much my favorite class of high school, and towards the end of the year, we got to make t-shirts that we designed ourselves (those iron-on things you can print out) about one of the stories or poems we had read that year. We got extra credit if we wore it to school. I chose MacBeth for my shirt. I actually still have it! LOL
