lmao.. doesn't it creep you out when that happens? it makes me laugh cause I think it's so eerie. and I also think it's strange that you were able to remember what was playing since I'm guessing a lot of times it's the last thing on people's minds when they're sitting in a snowy ditch. i love bsb fans. it's all about priorities lmao

It is weird. The only reason I remember is because it was just so weird that it was Siberia, being that it was blizzarding out and my car was buried in the snow.

I have at least one, but it still has some plot hole issues I haven't worked out. I have a Word doc for the outline/description of the idea, and I believe when I was typing it up, I ended it in mid sentence with the words "This is stupid, never mind." LOL
I have a Nick short story/novella sort of in the works; I started it quite awhile ago and have a beginning and not much else LOL. But it's something. I'd like to finish it at some point because I think it's a fairly creative idea.
I also started a new short story last night. It's AJ, it's first person, and at least part of it is written in present tense. Totally something new for me there LOL.

I have characters planned out, storylines laid out, etc. for a couple of stories. Then once I start writing, my outlines are basically a chronological list of the events that are going to happen in the story. Usually not too detailed, unless it's a complex idea I don't want to forget. Sometimes if I think of good lines for a certain part, I'll write them in... usually I don't end up using them though. My Broken and BMS outlines had a timeline of when the major events took place, so that I could always keep track of what month and year it was in the story. My BMS outline also has a whole section on Claire and Jamie's back story, so that I could keep my facts on that straight. It has a place where I made lists of reader cameos I had already included or wanted to include, so I wouldn't duplicate or accidentally leave out someone I really wanted to include. It has a section on Nick and Claire's family that I typed up before I wrote the Post-Epilogue for reference. It has details about both weddings that I planned ahead of time. It has a lot of stuff besides just the list of events, and that's why it's 24 pages long LOL. It definitely did not start out like that though. The current outline for what will probably be my next novel is 2 pages long. It has character info and some details about what will happen in the story, and that's all so far.

But I just couldnt seem to do it. so i tried writing the first chapter just to get a kickstart and it was ok but I'm not sure if I can follow through. you have a lot of will power. im jealous lol

It was mostly nice to have at times when I would think to myself, "Okay, what do I need to write next?" If I wasn't sure, I could open up the outline and see what I had planned out to happen later on that I needed to work up to. It helped keep me on track. If you were to look at it now, it's not completely accurate - a lot of things didn't happen the way I wrote out that they were going to, and I didn't bother to edit the outline. An outline doesn't have to set anything in stone; it's just a guideline. I didn't use outlines at all until the end of You'll Never Walk Alone, and then I found that I needed to write out my ideas to keep everything straight for the climax. It worked out well for me, so when I started planning out Broken, I used an outline from the very beginning. Now it's just a habit I have for my longer stories. So far I haven't used them for short stories.

So far I haven't used them for short stories. well, i think my issue with not writing an outline with this concept is that the only fictional part of the story would be the way I'm presenting the information. Everything else is 100% true and would need to stay in chronological order, for the most part because the whole purpose is to build "events" that happened in the past to prove a "point". it's all satire though. and then i kind of have to find a constructive way to flip between the present, which would be fictional, and the past which would be non fictional without making it seem awkward. I have a bad habit of coming up with really good concepts that are far beyond my capabilities at this point lol.

What happens if you need more than 5 days? And how do people find out that it's a snow day, and they don't have to go to school? Then we have to add that many more days of school onto the end of the year. All of the local news stations have school closings (and other closings - businesses and events) running across the bottom of the TV screen, and they also post them on their websites so you can check. The radio stations also announce them. But for school personnel, they have a phone tree set up so that you will get a call letting you know. My mom is also a teacher, and she runs her school district's website, so she is one of the first to get called for her district so that she can update the school website with the news. I woke up at 5 a.m. this morning when the phone rang - the secretary from her school calling to let HER know it was a snow day. So I jumped out of bed and ran to my computer to get on one of the news websites to check - sure enough, everywhere was cancelled. Five minutes later, I got the call from one of the teachers at my school, and then I had to call another person from my school to make sure she knew. It's pretty efficient. hehe, I get the phone call since LT works for the district, lol, but LT doesn't have to call anyone else because he's only a custodian. Last year, my health teacher (well, both of them) said that whenever it's snowing or icy at night, they don't answer their phone in the morning so that they won't have to call the next person. Because, as I'm sure you know, Julie, when the person you call doesn't answer, then you have to call the person that they would normally call, lol. The system isn't quite as efficient in my district as it is in yours, as you can tell.

I feel so bad, Julie. I'm only on chapter 197. Definitely no promises with the way my life's been going lately, but I'm going to TRY to read the rest of it this weekend. My land, I'm a horrible BMS reader now, lol.
