How much do you guys focus on the "outsiders" ie the fans the media etc? For example if you were to write a story dealing with AJ's rehab would you a write a part where the guys held a press conference to explain to the world what was going on or would you mainly focus on the turmoil it was causing within the group and how they were dealing with it? LOL I probably just confused everyone but I'm just curious. I personally don't like to focus much on the media in fanfic because I have this awful idea of how much it would suck to have to live life in the spotlight where your every move is watched and photographed. It depresses me so I don't like to write about it.

I'd probably write a press conference in there somewhere. Though, I WILL admit that I'd focus it more around the guys and their thoughts, feelings, etc...

I think I might add a little fans and meida attention in there, but like Amy, I'd mainly focus on the guys.

I hate writing about the media and stuff, but sometimes I do include it for reality's sake... like in Broken. But if I can get around it, I will. I prefer to just focus on the guys too.

It is confusing to add all that media stuff in there. I've tried it and it always comes out crappy.

It'd be especially difficult for me, because I don't keep track of things like TRL or anything else on MTV, VH1, or E! So, I wouldn't know how to present it very well, lol.

^I wrote one story like 2 years ago, and I did all that. Before I even started writing it took me a month to go through and find all the apperances and stuff that they'd done over the years. I started writing it, and I never thought I'd finish the story. It turned out okay, but not as good as I'd wanted. The idea was great, but after doing all of that...didn't turn out so good. So now, I tend to stay away from all that.

I can see where it would disrupt the flow of the story sometimes, if you've been focusing just on the guys the rest of the time. I like stories where it's just hinted at, if it needs to be (like if something major bad happens to them), but not totally written in.

Yeah, the guys are my main focus now in anything I write. If it's something with the media, it's VERY little.

LOL. Don't, Anita! It will just ruin your story, well maybe not, but it did mine.

Well, like Julie has said to me before, everyone has to start some where! You'll get better, everyone does.
