"You okay over there?" Nick asked, turning to look at her, she'd hardly uttered a word since they arrived back at the apartment.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just concentrating on the movie." she said, not wanting to go into what she was really thinking. She didn't feel like taking a chance on him leaving again. She really liked Nick, and she enjoyed his company.
"A movie you've seen hundreds of times?" he asked and rasied an eyebrow, grabbing the remote and hitting pause. "Something's on your mind, now talk to me. I want it to be where we can talk."
Anita sighed, turning to face him. "I just can't get the way you acted ealier out of my head, Nick. I'm sitting here like it doesn't bother me, but it does. I really like you, and I'm scared if I say something you'll leave again, but that's no way for me to be either. I can't be scared to say what I feel because I'm scared if you don't like it you'll just get up and strom out without even trying to talk about the problem frist and try to figure it out. It just really got to me when you got so mad that Apolo gave me those flowers, just as an apology. If I can't be friends with him, can I be freinds with any guy? Are you scared they are going to be competetion for you too? Just because I'm friends with guys doesn't mean anything, Nick. I know you have loads of female friends, and if you was to go up to one of them, it wouldn't make me mad. So why does it make you mad?"
Nick took a deep breath, taking in what all Anita had just said to him. "I'm not trying to tell you who to be friends with, I told you that before. I don't care if you talk to other guys, just Apolo, cause I say the way you were with him at the party last night, that was more than just friendship. I guess, I guess I'm just scared in some way. Scarred that if he comes back into the picture, I won't get a chance to prove to you how good we could be together, I don't wanna just be your friend, Anita, and I feel threatened by him."
Anita just sat there, her eyes wide. She knew there was something up, Nick couldn't loath someone he didn't even know, had barely even talked to. "Nick, honey, who is the man sitting on my couch right now, with me in my pajamas? Is it Apolo, no, it's you. If Apolo was the one I wanted to be with, he'd be here, but as you can see, he's not. I know he apologized to me, and that was nice. But if he could do that last night, he would do it again. I don't want to be in a relationship like that again. You're here because I want you to be. I trust you, and I've never trusted this easily before. There's just something about you. You shouldn't be threatened by anyone, especially not Apolo, okay." Anita reassured him, rubbing his ceek. "Okay?" she said again.
"Okay." Nick said, laying his head on her chest, and she rubbed his hair out of his face. He re-started the movie, and they sat in silence until it was over.
