I'm gonna have to go with Julie here as well. I'm pretty picky when it comes to romance, and I had to read it one time for an awards I was judging and I didn't get past the first page :-( I've heard a lot about it though. I know the story has been going on for awhile, it's interesting to me to see so many readers upset with whatever has happened in this latest chapter. It's funny because as anyone who writes knows, you can't make everyone happy and there's always gonna be one or two who don't like what you've done, but it looks like there's more than one or two here which really makes me wonder. A question to those who read because I'm truly curious, do you feel they're grasping at straws to keep the story going? I don't think people are upset only about what happened in the last chapter. I didn't ever read the last chapter and I'm done with the story. In my opinion, it's the combination of running out of ideas for the story and the fact that they turned the lead female character into this pathetic person who does nothing but complain and complain and complain. In a romance, you're supposed to hope and wish that the couple end up together, but Nick and Rachel can't be together because they make each other miserable and anyone can see that! So what's the point of the story? I feel bad for the writers because it was a very well written story (and it still is, I think), but they lost "it". The "it" that made people want Nick and Rachel together is not there anymore!

LOL this is why I think romance is hard to write. It's so hard to write a female lead that is actually likeable, that people want to root for, and then keep her that way LOL. You don't want to have a totally static character that never changes, cause then you fall into the trap of repeating yourself and not going anywhere with the story, but if you let her change and then lose the "it" factor, that's not good either. It's hard to find that balance!

I think the authors didn't put as much thought into the last chapter and they rushed it. the part that I can't stand is that Rachel (lead female) slept with Justin Timberlake. I think it was a horrible turn for the story. It was way to predictable, but at the same time I never thought authors to that caliber would write something like that. I think another problem is that the story is far too long. In Broken/BMS there is a lot going on to the point if Julie had written it any shorter I would be lost and feel cheated. Oreos doesn't skip ahead to the future and where the story is now (Nick and Rachel are on a 6 month break), I think it has to skip ahead. Wow, I blabbered on and on.

Aww, thanks. That makes me feel better LOL. I feel like I can't say much about Oreos, 1) Because I haven't really read it, and 2) Because I could be guilty of the same thing... stretching the story out too far and screwing up my female lead LOL. I've read other stories where that has happened, but I can't really judge.

Oh no, you don't strech the story out AT ALL. Nick and Claire both go through a lot that serves the plot. It would seem really unrealistic if one day Nick has cancer then the next he's fine.

Dude your story is not stretched to the point of screwing up your female lead... but the Oreos writes do take it to the extreme. I'm all for a lot of fan fic, but that's seriously a lot of fan fic. They have "34" chapters but each of those chapters have about 12-15 pages to them. So I'd says its about to reach 400 chapters. lmao Whoa that is a lot. Maybe I should invest my time in studying not reading fan fic. I'd be a lot better off. lol

On Wakey_Wakey.net this story is wrongly labled as a Howie story. as soon as i started to read the first couple of paragraphs i got bored. (not because it wasn't a Howie story) I don't know it just didn't capture me like others do....For example: Anastacias: Bring Me To Life. When i read the first few lines there was something there that just grabbed my attention, you know? No Offence to the Author but thats just how i feel.

I really liked Rachel's character in the begining until she and Nick hooked up. Then it was all sex and Nick cheating on her and the make up sex, etc. There isn't much character development anymore. The Justin thing was grasping at straws. I'm curious to see where the next chapter goes.

LOL that may be the problem... it's like, once the two main characters finally hook up, then what? Sometimes you're just reaching for any kind of conflict to keep the story interesting; that's why it seems it seems to always take FOREVER for those truly good, "meant to be" couples to hook up in books and movies. The "happily ever after" stuff is only good for so long.
