As you may or may not remember, I used to have a page called "Where to Begin" on my site where I posted links and descriptions of some of (in my opinion) the best stories on my site, both mine and hosted, as a way to help guide newbies to the cream of the crop, since I have soo many stories on there.
I later took that page down and replaced it with the story database, where you can search for stories by type/genre/Boy/etc. (Does anyone actually use that, btw? Anyone?)
I was just thinking, do you think it would be a good idea to put that kind of a page back up? Would it be helpful? If you haven't read many of the stories, would you be more willing to check some of them out if you had a page like that?
If so, instead of it just being based on MY opinion, I was thinking I should have readers list some of their favorites along with brief descriptions or testimonials as to why they like them. Since I don't have any kind of rating system or anything, that would be another way to kinda sort out the really good stories that might get glossed over from the more "eh..." ones. Cause let's be honest - not every story on my site is an AMAZING piece of work LOL. That's not meant to offend anyone, but at the same time, I don't want the really good ones to get lost in the shuffle.

^Okay! This seems like it would be fun! And to answer both your queastions, I use the database, not all the time, but I do use it, and I think it would be helpful if you put the other page back up. That's just my opinion, though, of course.

On your site I like a LOT of stories, but like you said, not all of them are all that great. I've started reading a few and I'm like..."I don't like this." But I'll list the ones I like, which are a lot..lol. I'll be right back to do that, since it seems DS goes faster than any other site I ever go to. LOL

So, I'm going to do this now, it may take a while, but I'll do it...LOL.
Julie's stories:
Are You There, God? It's Me, Biran: I LOVED this story. I usually don't read stories about any other BSB other than Nick, but it was short so I said I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. I love it cause it was so funny. Usually Brian stories, short or not are all so serious.
I loved the parts where Brian was not very comfortable with Howie, and Howie said he was going to be buff like Arnold some day. But I think my favorite part was about the whole virginity thing! LOL. It was funny, epscially Nick..."Does it hurt?" I just think this is a good example of where to start if you're begining and wanting to write a short story.
I'm going in order here, by the way! LOL
Broken: WOW! Do I really need to explain this all over again? I guess I will! This story is just AMAZING period. If anyone wants to write a medical story, this is place to go for ideas and how to actually write a relaistic story, get a prespective on how one should be written.
It's just thought out so well, the events are almost like you're actually there. It keeps you on your toes, makes you laugh, gets you mad, makes you cry, all your emotions just seem to come out. It's very...REAL! It makes you think Nick should be limping when he's on TV, it's almost like you can imgaine how it feels to go through and battle something as bad as cancer. It's not stupid, he doesn't die really fast or make a quick recovery.
You see the events in detail, what he went through, the emotional trama, everything. You see how it affects his friends and family, how they try do help and do all they can for him, while thier watching him and going through emotional hell themselves. You see how it affects his life, his career. It shows how sometimes he just wants to give up, pretty much in great detail how everyone with cancer suffers from it. It's just an AMAZING read, and like I said, if you're looking for tips on how to write a GREAT medical story, this is the place to go!
BMS:WOW AGAIN! The sequeal is just as awesome as the oringial story. You get to see how Nick copes with his life after everything he went through the first time around. The affects that can happen if something else occurs or comes back. It's a love story, but not your average one.
It's not all sunflowers and puppy dogs. It's REAL love. They don't just get back together and live happily ever after..amen. It's a battle with feelings that people think their feelings for the other have been buried. You get to see how a couple goes through things that they think are right for them, but it's not. It's like you're actually in thier life, like it's a journal you're reading that someone wrote about themselves.
It's so different from any other love story about Nick that I've ever read. Thier bond and connection is so deep, and it makes you wonder sometimes if that's why it's hard for them to be together. It's a great influence on writers who are looking to write love and to get away from all the teeny business that love stories usually consit of. A GREAT read again, I'm sure you'll be seeing that A LOT from me!
The Little Velvet Box: AWW! Again, no Nick story, but I LOVED it anyway. It was just so simple, but still a great read. It's how I'd want my purposal to be. It was cute cause it also had symbolism in it in a way.
Like how couples have something unique that belongs to them. Like in this story, Traci and AJ had a tree. It was also greatly written, because pretty much, the whole story was centered around that tree, if I can remember correctly, it's been a while since I read this one.
Backstreet Boys in the Shining: Completey funny, and a great read if you're looking for entertainment! I loved the moive, "The Shining", so that's the reason why I read it in the first place. I love again how Julie LOVES to pick on Justin! I also find it funny how she used "Hotel Manager Guy" as a title, no name. And how Howie knows, and doesn't want to go to the hotel at all.
It's just great how it's almost kind of supesnseful in a way too. She also did a great job with putting the guys into character for this story as well. Just if you're bored and want to read, read this! Dude, Mrs. Cleo is in it too! HAHA
Just Hold Me: Very suspensful, but it makes you cry like a baby too, did me anyway. It's short, but again, another great read. It shows how you feel when you love someone and are taken from you too early, even if it wasn't real. But it also makes you think to spend time with the people you love, cause you never know what might happen tomorrow. Julie has lots of hidden advice in her stories, the advice is there and it's not hard to see.
Beside The Ocean: AWESOME! Plus it's got Nick in it too! LOL It's pretty much what the summary said. Don't give up, no matter how bad something hurts, or you think you can never find it, you can. It's about tow shattered souls that learn to get through things together. I can't really explain this story too well for two reasons.
I haven't read it in a while, and I plan on reading it again soon, and I don't want to give too much away for people that haven't read it yet. And everything I come up with to put, it does that. It's just amazing, makes all your emotions come out too. Pretty much like it says, he gave her love, she gave him life. But the end of the story, OMG...you're talking about tears! Just read it!
Shattered Lives: I've started reading this story...fianlly. But I'm NOT completely done with it myself. But what I've read so far, I have LOVED! So I just know that the remainder of the story is going to be just as good as the beginning.

Collaborated Stories:
Okay, I'm BAD when it comes to these. The only one I've read is 00Carter, sorry Julie and everyone else! It's just I've NEVER been fond of them because, no offesne, they usally never get finished, and I HATE getting into stories that never get fnished. BUT, I DID started reading Code Blue last night, and I LOVE IT so far. I just needed somethings to take my mind off other things, so I read.
But...MY explanation for these.
00Carter: OMG OMG OMG! We are talking best story I've ever read, it's AMAZING! I love the whole feel of the secret agents, and so much thought was put into this story. Tons of tatlented aruthors cintribute to this story, and it couldn't be better. It's seriously just like something out of a James Bond movie, even though I never really liked those. LOL
Well thought out, and the things they come up with! I've never been so intrested in anything in my life. It's great cause it's completely different from everything I'm reading right now and everything I read in the past. It doesn't foucs on love or anything, it's just great to read something that is different. I know anyone who starts to read this story will NOT want to stop.
I just can't say enough good things about it, and I feel like I haven't said enough. But again, the story is new, and I don't want to give too much away...just read it! You will NOT be disappointed, I promise!
Code Blue: Like I said, I've been wanting to read this forever, and last night, I finally started to do so. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?! It's amazing! It's a medical story like Broken, but completely different. Not one story on this site is the same, there all intresting and pretty much, everyone I have read, I've loved!
The collaborated stories that I would love to start reading are: In Dreams, Sweet Vengeance, and Visions of the Past. One of these days, I will read them.

The collaborated stories that I would love to start reading are: In Dreams, Sweet Vengeance, and Visions of the Past. One of these days, I will read them. Just a word of advice: don't bother with In Dreams or Sweet Vengeance. They're not very far along and will never be finished. Visions of the Past is finished, although it's really old, so ignore the crappy writing. Thank you SO much for doing this - I wasn't expecting you to list that many or write that much, but I got a huge smile on my face reading it all! I'm flattered! ;D LOL I'm glad you're liking CB so far!

I'm going to do the rest of the stories soon, like I said, I enjoy doing things like this..LOL. Is that weird? I'm just too into this story I'm reading at the moment, I can't seem to stop reading. Even though my neck is killing me, and so is my butt from sitting here all this time.
