I just wanted to give you guys a heads up that you will be seeing some major changes to Dreamer's Sanctuary soon.
I am finally entering the modern era of web design and moving the site to Wordpress. For twelve years, I maintained this site using Microsoft Word, but the limitations of that have been bothering me for years. I knew that learning a new style of web design and recreating the whole website from scratch would be a time-consuming challenge, which is why, up until now, I had never done it, but I've decided the time has come.
So what does this mean for Dreamer's Sanctuary? It means the website will be more user-friendly and easy to navigate and read stories on, using any platform, browser, or screen resolution. There will even be a mobile layout so you'll have easier access from your phone or tablet.
The downside is that I will not be moving all 172 stories currently hosted on DS to the new website. It's simply too time-consuming and, frankly, not worth the effort. I will no longer be hosting stories; there is no real reason to, when we have sites like Absolute Chaos where anyone can post their own stories to a wider audience. I will also not be re-posting my OLD stories, the ones written before 2003. However, I am not going to delete anything that's currently on the site; instead, I will archive it, and all of the old stories, both mine and hosted, will still be available to read through links on the new site. I will also continue posting new chapters of any hosted story that's still in progress so that I can archive as many complete stories as possible.
Broken and every story I've written since will be moved to the new site. The links to those stories will change, but I will try to put a redirect script on the old pages so you don't have to worry about changing any links (at least not right away). The site will still be accessed through its usual address, dreamers-sanctuary.com
I think that's about it for now. So just watch for the new site to debut, probably sometime in the next week! If you have any thoughts or suggestions before then, I'd love to hear them!
Thanks for your support of Dreamer's Sanctuary!
