I was kinda "meh" over it, but I think my Twilight phase is long over. I just went to see this one to see how they did the birth scene (which I thought was good) and for Taylor Lautner, who is still nice eye candy, despite Jacob's creepiness in this one. I don't think I'll be seeing the second part in the theater. I agree, my love for it went out the window a long time ago. I didn't even go see the first movie. I'm waiting for the DVD.

I was never that big a fan of twilight... I read the books but it was a guilty pleasure sort of thing, cause I knew they weren't that good. And I watched the first movie and was very disappointed, so have skipped the rest.
You guys should check out "Alex reads twilight" on youtube. So, so funny.

I read them over and over. Well, I got bored the other day and tried reading them again. I couldn't get into it. With Harry Potter and other books, it doesn't matter how many times I read them. I guess it was just a phase for me or something.

^ That's exactly how I am, Kristy. I can and do reread Harry Potter over and over again, and it never gets old. With Twilight, I plowed through the four books in like two weeks originally, but I don't think I've ever reread one of them in its entirety. I started all of them before each of the movies came out and got bored halfway through and never finished. I think it's because Stephenie Meyer sucks at suspense... she tries to build it up, then doesn't deliver. The first book, I can read up until about the baseball scene, and then I get bored. The random villains, James and Victoria? Who the hell cares? And the Volturi in the other books? Way overplayed up. I was always waiting for some epic battle between either the vampires and werewolves or the Cullens and the Volturi, and nothing ever happened. She missed a couple of important lessons in storytelling that JK Rowling mastered - how to build a story arc, with rising action, a climax, and a resolution, and how to end a story - or, more specifically, a "saga." The end of Breaking Dawn was especially disappointing. There's also the fact that, when you get over being "dazzled" by Edward and really think about him and his relationship with Bella, it's CREEPY! He's a controlling, old man stalker, and she's a self-loathing sad sack. Neither of them are really likable characters. Jacob is likable, until you find out he's been in love with Bella's baby since it was just an unfertilized egg inside her ovary... which, btw, means that if she hadn't had sex with Edward on their honeymoon, Jacob might as well have imprinted on her bloody tampon. Then Jacob just seems creepy too. For me, Twilight is like certain kids movies or TV shows that you liked when you were little, but haven't seen in years. When you first saw them, they seemed like the best thing ever, but then you finally see them again as an adult and realize how crappy they are, and you're like, "Why did I like this??" But there was just something about them back in the day... All this said, I still watch the movies because I have a slightly inappropriate crush on Taylor Lautner. (But he's not a minor anymore, so yay, I guess it's no longer inappropriate!)

The way she played it up it was going to be this huge thing with characters dying and all this. NOTHING...I was like...ok, that wasn't worth my time at all.

I suppose at first the reason I loved them so much was because it was such a different kind of romance and I've always loved the horror/supsense stuff. It's like you said, though, once you actually think about it...it's creepy. A lot of stuff doesn't make sense either how a dead man can't do this and do that, but he can make a baby? The more I think about it, it just seems...

LOL Yeah, exactly. Forbidden romances are always fun, and the fact that he's attracted to her, but wants to kill her at the same time is interesting, but beyond that, it's just sort of creepy and pathetic. Her relationship with Jacob was a lot more normal and healthy than her relationship with Edward. I think part of the reason I read the books so fast the first time was that I was just curious to know where it was all going. Would Bella become a vampire? Would she stay with Edward or fall for Jacob? Would the vampires fight the werewolves? Would the Volturi actually follow through on their threats and do something? Once those questions were answered (many of them with disappointing "no"s), it wasn't interesting anymore.
