I read online today that there is a petition up about people wanting Breaking Dawn to be rated R. I just wondered what your opinions were? I personally do not disagree really because I want the movie to really relate to the book. Although, maybe they can do it in a way where it's not totally vulgar. Since so many younger kids love the series. My sister and I have been having this discussion since Twilight came out in 2008. How are they going to do this?

They wont be able to get an R rating and be able to market it to the people it's mainly aimed that. There is an older following to the series, but it's main fan base is teenagers and they would lose a TON of money by doing that. There's a way to make it racy (if you wanna call it that lol) and still keep it pg 13. Not that i would personally mind it being rated R, because i'm guessing that would involve a hella lot of almost nekkid R Patz, but theres no way the studios are gonna do that, theyre in this to make money, and R rating = tons of money not made.

Yeah, I know, I agree 100% I wish they could make a version for teenagers then a version for us. LOL Hell no, I would not mind it at all either. You know Rob would have nothing against it! LMAO Gotta love him.

I don't really care either way, but I think, for the sake of all the little girls who will want to go see it, they could make it PG-13 and still cover the book well. It all depends on how much they show graphically instead of just imply.

I agree with Julie. I wasn't offended by the book but I can see how it would be thought of as inappropriate for young children. The story can be told without being too graphic

I agree. I was just wondering, really. I wasn't thinking about the sex part, anyway. It was the way she had the baby. That could be really scary. LOL

Personally, I'd love some naked Rob on the big screen But to change the rating wouldn't be in keeping with the other films, and would prevent a lot of fans from being able to see it in the cinema. I wonder how they'll do the birth scene as it's quite graphic in the book? Hmm, looking forward to seeing this film the most!

That's the thing, I would love a nice, gory birth scene like in the book, but I don't think they'll make it R because then they might lose some of their younger fans whose parents wouldn't let them see it. Hopefully they can just use the same tricks horror movies that are not Saw, etc. use and make it seem horrific without actually showing all the gory detail.

I hope they don't cut the birth out, because it's a major part of the book.

No, I don't think they can cut it out. If nothing else, they'll rely on sound effects and facial expressions and imply the rest LOL.

I am only in it for the birth scene honestly. To keep it PG-13 I feel they are basically going to do this:
Bella goes into labor, fade in and out of blackouts, in the makeshift hospital, fade in and out, shot of Jacob's face, fade in and out, shot of Edward's disturbed face, fade in and out, Edward about to go for the kill, fade in and out, baby, fade into darkness. Then from there they'll be this overhead of Edward trying to save her as if her spirit were watching from the ceiling.
I WISH! It could be full on hardcore detail and explicit to all hell, but that will never happen.
