So it's officially New Year's Eve where I live, and I thought it was time to make one of these "year in review" sort of threads. Think back to 2008. Was it a good year for you? Not such a great year?
What were your biggest accomplishments this year? Give us some highlights!

I know for me, I survived my first year of teaching and managed to get hired back for a second one LOL. I moved out, got an apartment, and am living by myself for the very first time, fully financially independent. I got my first credit card and have managed not to go crazy with it and get myself into debt already LOL. I bought my second car, after the first car I bought myself was totaled over the summer. I went to my first Cubs game in Chicago... actually, two of them! I went to NYC, and I saw Daniel Radcliffe in person! I went to two more Bsb concerts and finally got to meet the guys... twice!! I finished By My Side, finally! I started a new novel that does not contain Nick and Claire, and I wrote several short stories, the first I'd written in several years. I voted in my second presidential election, this time for Barack Obama, our first black president. Looking back, 2008 was a pretty cool year for me!

Wow, Julie, that sounds like a great year for you. For me, not so much. My Spanish grandpa died, our house was broken into while I was in it (and my computer was stolen, as well as another computer and some other stuff), I didn't have any boyfriends, etc. Although some good things did happen, like I passed my junior year, I met a bunch of cool new friends, I got a dog, I got a new computer, and I turned 17 which I think is the best age. And well... if I think of anything else I'll come and add it.

Julie, you accomplished so much this year! Good for you! My year was back and forth. We found out that my grandma has three brain tumors, my mom's had three procedures on female organs, and had a colonscopy yesterday. Overall, I guess you'd say I've switched roles with my mom this year. I'm taking care of her now instead of the other way around. I've in a sense become an adult this year. I got my license, I got a job, I got a cell phone (because I refused to drive without one), and this last quarter of the year, I've been doing a lot of work around the house and have ran a lot of the errands to get what we need.

Julie, you accomplished so much this year! Good for you! I hope that didn't sound like I was bragging. I wasn't trying to; I just kinda realized this was a big year for me, in terms of becoming not only adult but totally independent. It sounds like you had a year kind of like that too, for different reasons! It's not always fun, having to act like an adult LOL.

Just coming to the realization that so much happened for you this year. Yeah, I was half forced into becoming an adult this year, lol. I really don't mind though. I love my mom, and I love helping her out and taking care of her. Kind of like giving back for all those years she took care of me. Oh yeah, lol, I forgot to put: I went to the SUPPOSED last BSB concert for the Unbreakable tour. And you didn't even get Kevin... lame! I know! I think my mom was more upset about Kevin not being there than I was though, lol.

Well ok i decided to give it a go as well... What i did for the whole year was basically working, working and working my ass off! And looks like all my hard work has payed off, because i've now finished my first year with compliments from my manager and the executive of my department. This looks like the biggest accomplishment for me, as this being the first job i've ever had, I've had my down moments, where i thought i just couldn't do it and even questioned whether i was right for the job. Other than that, my personal life has been kinda bleh. My boyfriend broke up with me last January saying he didn't want to commit, and despite all his attempts in April, June, July, September AND November, I didn't take him back. This was a great accomplisment for me, since i could finally set my foot and say no. And I know very well what I want from my relationships and what I don't want. And it really gives you a clear head! I've met some new people, some of them my colleagues, and I've made great friends with each and every one of them i feel very lucky with. I've been more social, going out and having dinners. Also, I've reunited with a person who is very very dear to my heart. I've been writing for the 00Carter as well, though i couldn't be as active as i wanted to be, I still enjoy being a part of it and truly consider myself lucky to share such a great experience with amazing writers. Guess this is it! Already written pretty long though!

Good for you, Gozde! Congrats on doing well with your job... and good for you for not taking your boyfriend back. It sounds weird to say, but it takes a lot of strength to be able to do that, to know what you want and do what's best for you, even if it's also hardest. So many girls fall into the trap of getting back into the same unhealthy relationships again and again because they think even a bad relationship is better than being alone.
Also, you know we're glad you're a part of 00Carter. It wouldn't have become what it has without every one of us! ;D
