I posted a whole journal entry about this in my LJ (http://rokofages75.livejournal.com/), but to keep it short, I came across this poem I had to write for lit class my junior year of high school, and it's about my first Bsb concert.
We had to write a poem about a situation in which you're doing something that requires your outward attention, while inwardly you're thinking about something else (basically spacing out, daydreaming), and the poem had to include both the "outer" and "inner" voices. I wrote my poem about the day I saw my first Bsb concert with my best friend Jen, our freshman year of high school. The concert was in St. Louis, which meant a three-hour drive, and it was on a Tuesday, so we had to go to school that day, but we got to get out early so we could leave for the show. So our last class of the day was choir, and I still remember quite vividly sitting through choir, which was normally one of my favorite classes, and wishing it would be over so we could leave. Jen and I kept looking at each other and grinning; we were SO excited! So this is the poem I wrote about it...
Good job, sopranos. Now, let's hear it
From the top. Everyone in.
Sit up straight and concentrate.
We have to get ready for the concert.
I cannot wait for the concert.
I have been ready for months,
And now the day is finally here,
And it's almost time for us to leave.
Altos, can I hear you on measure ten?
We've got some wrong notes in there.
Sing through to measure sixteen,
And then we'll go back and get everybody in.
Everybody? That's a Backstreet Boys song.
I know they'll sing it at the concert tonight.
It's one of my favorites; I love their dancing.
Of course, nothing compares to their singing.
Alright, everyone sing starting at measure ten.
We have to get these notes right, ladies.
Our concert is only two months away.
We have to be ready.
Oh, don't worry. I've been ready for months.
^ It made me smile, so I thought I'd share.
