Backstreet.net used to be my fave site too, along with not-like-you.com but as for fanfic, I now keep Julie's site as my base. I still have a lot of reading to do starting with Julie's own stories and since she has a lot of hosted ones so i'm good to go for a while. ;D Wow, thank you! ;D Do you mean "base" as in your home page? Like the page that comes up when you get online?

I hate that too!! Backstreet.net used to be my favorite site back in the day, but it sucks anymore. I guess it still gets updated from time to time, but rarely, and they choose to post such random stuff LOL. I know, the main reason I go there now is for fan fic, but not anymore, because of this certian reason.

Do you guys go to AbsoluteChaos much? At least there are updates all the time on that site and lots of stories to browse. I have, but there's SO MANY stories on there, and I get confused and frustrated because there's so many I want to read. I'll wait for that, though, the main two stories I'm reading now is your's and Veronica's. Even though, V, is making me mad. Stupid Nick NEEDS TO TELL HER ALREADY! Same goes for Nick and Claire...lol. I hope you guys know I'm just kidding! IT WAS so cool for her to use you and Laureen in her story! That's the first thing that popped out at me! haha,

I guess there aren't that many sites with a large fanfic base that update a lot anymore though. Most authors with their own sites don't host stories anymore, and other sites that do don't update. If I'm looking for something to read and don't have any recommendations, I go to AC or the Backstreet Bauhaus - I dunno where else to go. But there's a lot of teeny stuff on those sites too, so it's still hard to find something that appeals to me.

I go to Backstreet Bauhaus a lot too. I like the one with old stories too, I wish more sites had old stories like that. I also would like to find some more AU stories. I can hardly ever find anything of that genere that I enjoy reading. I read a few a little while back, but when I went back to write them, I no longer enjoyed them. I suppose reading stories written as good as Julie's has made me not want to read poorly written stories anymore...is that mean?

I've read 00Carter, and I'm working on Code Blue now. I've read a few of the hosted stories, but not many, but I'm working on it! Too bad I can never find award sites anymore, I'd nominate Julie in every catagorey. lol

Omg, you guys. You know what used to irk me? The last time I ran my awards site, which was in 2003, I had this group of writers who were all friends with each other get nominated and then cheat in my polls so that all of their stories would win the categories they were nominated in. This is a really long story, and I don't remember all of the details now, but the polls I thought were cheat-proof turned out to be not, and the voting was really suspicious, and I became disgusted with the whole thing and haven't run my awards since. I had never heard of these authors or their stories before then, but after that, they were on my radar. I read their stories that were nominated during the awards, and I was surprised at how "popular" they could be because I didn't think they were anything special. But apparantly they did have a lot of readers... readers who WORSHIPPED them. One of them actually had like a PR person for her site, who was in charge of scoping out award sites to nominate her at and then harassing all her readers to vote for her. It was nauseating, especially because the author had a huge ego and not the talent to back it up, in my opinion. And most of her little circle of writer friends were the same way. I can't stand arrogance, and I'm sorry, but having a PR person for your Backstreet Boys fanfic website is just obnoxious. I won't say who they are, and they don't write anymore anyway, but the point I'm getting at is this: I am FLATTERED by the compliments, but it almost makes me feel guilty when people say stuff like "I'd nominate Julie in every category!" cause then I think I'm turning into one of THEM, and I never want to be seen as that type!! So don't give me an ego. There are TONS of fantastic authors out there to praise!! If you think I'm one of them, I will love you forever, but I'm certainly not the best by any means LOL. Edit: No offense to anyone!! I don't mean don't give me feedback either. ;D

The whole point of an awards site is to show respect to aurthors who have written great stories, who have put time and effort into them. Which leads me to you, Julie. You shouldn't feel bad AT ALL. I'd do that for you because, unlike them, you actually do it. You do your best to make your stories awesome, and you do it well. You research, you do it all, and they seem so real! Sometimes I forget it's just fiction. So no, don't feel like you're turning into one of them, people actually like your stories, there AWESOME, and not only that, you're a good person, and people cam tell that just by chatting with you. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have NO idea how you could ever feel that way.

They ran their own as well, and all of their friends mysteriously won there too. It was really strange... LOL I like the concept of an awards site, but they're either a popularity contest or biased or they stop mid-season and never post winners. Blah. Anyway, thank you, I really appreciate that. That's the last thing I would ever want to be seen as, is arrogant.

Ok, what those people did was just sick and i'm sorry it happened when you hosted an awards site. But Julie, come on, we all know here that you will NEVER turn into one of those people and we are here supporting you and your stories because we believe in your talent and sincerity!! There are definitely a lot of great writers here, but as for being someone who reads fanfic for at least 8 years, you are the only writer that I follow and support. ;D More ego boost for ya! ;D You definitely deserve it.

Aww, thanks, Gozde. LOL What gives me some satisfaction about those authors I mentioned is that none of them are even writing anymore. They started writing after I did, basked in their glory for a few years, and then fizzled out. Half of them took down their sites, and the others just don't update them anymore. Whereas I can say that whatever popularity I do have has been earned over the last seven years that I've been writing. It's so cool to me that I've got all these people praising me on a forum and that my site seems to be one of the first ones linked over at LD in the fanfic threads, but I think that's because it's one of the oldest ones that is still being updated now. Most of the sites that were popular back when I started writing aren't around anymore, and now now mine is one of the biggest and oldest, so it's on the radar suddenly. That isn't true for everyone who has been writing as long as I have though, so I'm really appreciative of it! You guys rock! ;D I think I said this once before, but if I had tried to start a forum back in like 2001 or 2002, it would have been like... *crickets*... all the time on it LOL. It would have been me and like three of my friends that I forced to join posting on it. So I'm glad I waited until now to do that. ;D

It's not just that your site is older, Julie. It's mainly because the stories are so AWESOME! The stories are what counts! I know what you're saying about a lot of the sites and aurthors. Almost all of the sites I visited have been shut down or something, but I'm glad I found this one!
