Now that they're both finished, I've decided that I do want to print out Broken and BMS and have a hard copy of them... mostly so that I can have the pleasure of resting my eyes upon that huge stack of paper and going, "Yeah... I wrote that."
But also, hard copies are nice to have. You just never know... if my computer crashed, my site and AC got hacked, all my CDs were corrupted or stolen, and everyone else who has my stories saved died on the same day, a hard copy would be valuable. I don't have freaking Lost Innocence anymore because my computer crashed and it was taken off my old floppy disks, but I still have my hard copy of Blind Love, damnit.
Anyway... I'm too anal to just open the stories up and click print. Oh no... if I'm going to waste that much paper and ink, I want it done right. So I've spent the last few months sporadically going through Broken and reformatting it for the hard copy version. I changed the font so that it looked more like "real book" font, and I went through every freaking paragraph and indented them all and took out the extra line of white space between them. I broke up the paragraphs some more, tried to catch any last typos, took out my weird author's notes that didn't really need to be in there, etc. I had been working on that off and on since like December or January, and I just finished it with Broken today in order to trick myself into feeling productive LOL. I don't have enough paper to print the whole thing right now, but I printed a few pages to see how it would look, and it was very satisfying. I just need to go buy some paper and a three-hole punch and the biggest binder I can find.
Anyway... now I get to start the whole process over again on BMS. Dear god... it's gonna take forever. But because I'm incredibly anal and won't be able to stand it being formatted any differently than the Broken hard copy, I will do it anyway. Maybe it will be more fun because I've never actually read through the entire thing, beginning to end.
But yeah, I must be insane.
