I think I already know how this poll is going to turn out, but hey, I'm bored and wondering, so I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.
I thought of a new story idea this morning, which may or may not amount to anything, but I've been thinking about it, and it's the kind of idea that could be written as a Bsb fic, an AU fic, or an original fic and still work.
As a Bsb fic, it would be Brian, and I could actually use Leighanne and Baylee, which is not true of most of my other Brian ideas because they involve romance to some degree. So I could make it a Bsb fic with no real trouble. And usually, I prefer Bsb fics.
But on the other hand, I'm in this phase where I would really like to write an AU and experiment with developing more original characters to go along with the Boys and not have to mess with trying to write Leighanne and her relationship with Brian, etc. realistically. I don't usually like AUs, but I've realized how much more creative freedom I would have with an AU, and that part is appealing.
So I'm just wondering, for an idea like this where it could go either way, do you guys have a preference? Which would you rather read, AU or Bsb, or does it not make a difference?

I want an AU. I know you could write and awesome one, Julie, and I'd love to see how it would turn out.

Sweet! I know only two people have voted so far, but I wasn't expecting many to go for AU LOL. I really would like to try writing one.

lol AU, but ya know, that's mainly what I write. And it's because of the creative freedom that comes with it.

LOL cool. Well, I humored myself by typing up the new idea in a Word doc to save, and of course, it doesn't sound nearly as good written out as it seemed in my head. But either way, this is nice to know... cause my other Brian idea, the one I had planned on writing as my next big project, definitely has to be an AU.

Your stories are SO great with only BSB, so i voted AU, cause who knows what will happen.

Okay, I finally decided. (took me long enough, eh?) I voted AU. Just because it's something different, lol.

I'm really surprised by how this poll is turning out LOL. I thought most people didn't like AU (I know some people LOVE it though). Go figure. LOL

LOL exactly. I wasn't very keen on AUs before we started writing 00Carter and now I just love and consider writing one by myself, just because it gives so much more flexibility and you can use your imagination and creativity more freely.

Exactly. I've only written a couple of AUs and don't usually like to read them (although there are a few I love), but I've realized that AU is my way to get back into writing Brian fanfics, especially ones that involve romance, without having to get rid of Leighanne and Baylee somehow. So the idea of writing one, particularly a Brian one, has really grown on me.

And that would be a challenge as well -after writing about Nick for so long. I think it's getting tougher to seperate them from their real lives more and more as they tend to settle down and have families.

^ Yeah, totally! That's one of the reasons I enjoyed writing Nick - not married, not engaged, no kids, estranged from his family... I'm not stuck writing about all that stuff if I don't want to, but I can still make it a Bsb fic.
That, and I just like Nick LOL.
