I'm having a conversation with myself here because no one else will get on! Anyway, who would name their daughter this- Genesis? Reading back through this, I have to say that I totally love this name now. My manager's wife's name is Genesis and she is super sweet. They call her "Gen" (like Jen) for short, or Genny. It is cute, I guess because of all the really weird names out there now. I still wouldn't name my kids that, though.

I'm generally not into names that were originally just words, not names of people. I prefer classic names. I like that along with all the weird crap people name their kids these days, some of the more old-fashioned names are coming back, especially for girls - names like Olivia, Isabelle, Emma, Sophie are popular again. That's a nice trend.

I never thought of Olivia as an old fashioned name LMAO I've known soo many girls with this name.
Most names did originate from words and stuff. Especially biblical names. The name Isaac means "laughter." Because his parents were super old when his mom conceived and she laughed when the angel told her that she would have a child.

Yeah, Olivia's become such a trendy name nowadays.
I know, but you know what I mean - I like more traditional names that have been names for longer than a few decades.

She let me and her brother know if we had a girl not to still her name. LOL Our nephew's name is Landon Matthew. I like his name too.

Would it be too weird to name a girl "Peter?" Cause I really love that name...

A few of my RL friends were saying they thought it would be unique/pretty.

I think you should just hold out for a son to name Peter. I'm not big on the trend of giving girls boy names to begin with, but even with all the weird names out there nowadays, I think naming a daughter Peter is just asking for her to get made fun of. It'd be like naming a boy Mary or Elizabeth or something.

Naw I dislike it as a boys name. I think one of the reasons I like it for a girl is because it reminds me of the name Piper (but I'm not a huge fan of that name specifically).
Also, when I was little, my brother and I both had pet bunnies. He had a girl bunny named Flopsy, and then I got a girl bunny and named her Peter (Flopsy, Peter, Cotton Tail, etc).
But mainly I just think it would be pretty.

Speaking of girl/boy names, I've known of girls having the same name as my son, Jayden. Which was odd at first, but now I guess I could see it being given to a girl. My fiance's name is Shelby, he's number 3. His paw paw and his dad have the same name. He doesn't like it too much, and I've never known of a guy to have that name until I met him.
